At Home in Mitford by Jan Karon

This flowing story of small town life set in the quaint mountain village of Western North Carolina will make you laugh, cry, and perhaps restore your faith. The main character, Father Tim, had all but given up on romance at the age of 60 when a beautiful neighbor moves in. Throw in a town full of hilarious country characters, a stray dog, a jewel thief, and a 60 year old secret and you've got entertainment.  This cozy read left me yearning for the next installment in the Mitford series.

Jan Karon lives in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. She was an advertising executive prior to fulfilling her dream of writing a book. At Home in Mitford was nominated for an ABBY award in 1996, 1997 & 1998.

A Book That Changed your view of reading

Charlotte's Web by E.B. White                                                                    Hello again! I have been thinking about how long I have loved reading. The first time I got excited about a book I was in third grade. My teacher, Mrs. Sutton, read every day from Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. She brought the story to life by using various voices for the characters. Now instead of dreading the reading class we couldn't wait for it. My fellow classmates and I grew so involved we read ahead at night. We were sad when Fern had to give Wilbur the pig away. We felt lonely as Wilbur tried to adjust to his new home. Although this book is recommended for 9-11 year old I still find myself going back to it from time to time. If you haven't read this wonderful story of coming of  age please consider this light read. It covers every emotion from happiness to sadness with plenty of laughter in between. It will make you feel like a kid again!
